The “Naeil” candidates won the presidential by-election for the 2021 General Student Council (GSC) at CNU. The election was held online from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 28, and vote counting proceeded through Zoom live streaming at 8 p.m. on the same day. The voter turnout was 44.04 percent, 2,806 votes. Lee Myeong-no (Senior, Faculty of Earth Systems and Environmental Sciences) and Gu Su-hyeon (Junior, Dept. of Family Environment and Welfare) have been elected as the president and vice president of the 2021 GSC respectively. They earned 2,836 votes that represents 39.50 percent of the total votes including blank ballots. The election was the first election after the changes, allowing blank ballots and a decrease of voting rate to be elected to one third of the voter eligible population. “Even in the difficult situation of Covid-19, I would like to thank all the CNUians who were interested in the election. I feel responsibility being elected after failing the election twice. We will try to make GSC give trust to students,” said Lee Myeong-no, newly elected president of the 2021 GSC.
