With the start of the new semester of 2021, Chonnam National University (CNU) has prepared to open new campus facilities for the learning and welfare of students. The Student Union 1 building has been newly opened after its remodeling. The building was being pointed out as having safety problems caused by the age of the building, but such problems were solved by remodeling the entire floor, expanding some parts, and seismic reinforcement. Some of the facilities in the building such as the cafeteria and the stores have been restricted due to internal construction, but it has become possible to use almost all of the available facilities there. The building is expected to be a multifunctional space for CNU students on campus.

The “Jeongbomaru”, which is the name of a newly established digital library building is scheduled to temporarily open on March 29. At the digital library, students can search for information and materials with IT equipment and use various spaces including study lounges, an area for books, and places for relaxation. Lee In-gil, team leader of the Planning & Public Relations in the Library, said, "On the first floor, 36 computers have been installed for searching information, and facilities such as bookshelves and chairs have already been prepared based on the results of a survey about the design of bookshelves and chairs conducted offline last October.”
