Today, AI technology is applied in various areas. Among all of these areas, the Chonnam Tribune introduces two attractive examples of AI application in real life in other countries.

Amazon Go in the U.S.

Amazon Go is an application that allows customers to buy products without waiting in line and being checked out by a cashier at Amazon Go and Amazon Go Grocery. It has applied ‘Just Walk Out’ technology which contains various techniques such as computer vision and deep learning. The app tracks which products are taken out from the shelves with cameras and sensors and calculates the sum of money when the customers pass the entrance of the market. The money is charged to the Amazon account and paid automatically.

Gringgo in Indonesia

Gringgo is an application that classifies waste according to its sources and value. This AI powered platform was developed by Gringgo Tech Company which tries to solve trash problems using AI technology. Gringgo selected high-value trash among the garbage, and it classifies the recyclable materials as well. Computer vision technology is used to categorize the sort of trash, and the results are connected to the disposal price data. Besides this project, the company has progressed in various other programs that encourage a better waste management system like establishing the marketplace for trash and recycling systems.
