Chonnam National University (CNU) held a non-contact entrance ceremony for the class of 2021 on March 2. Instead of gathering on campus, CNU replaced the ceremony by posting a pre-produced video on its official website and YouTube channels due to COVID-19. A total of 6,040 undergraduate and gradtuate students have started their school life; 4,650 in the bachelor's course, 1,100 in the master's course, and 290 in the doctoral course. Jung Sungtaek, the president of CNU, left celebration messages to new incoming students who enter each course. "Unfortunately, we would not be able to face each other this year due to the pandemic situation. Admission without two consecutive entrance ceremonies is still harsh, but the hearts greeting you are intense enough to burn sorrow. We will study together to grow the talents that our society needs. I will do my best to help you realize your expectations and wishes," he said.
