   After the 21st presidential candidate elections for Chonnam National University (CNU), Professor Jung Sungtaek (Department of Orthopedic Surgery) and Huh Min (Faculty of Earth Systems and Environmental Sciences) have been declared the top and the second candidate for the 21st President of CNU respectively. On September 23, the elections were conducted by online voting under the consigned management of the Gwangju Buk-gu District Election Commission, Professor Jung was elected as the top candidate with the highest votes by winning 704 votes out of 1,366 effective votes in the run-off election. The CNU President Candidate Recommendation Committee will recommend the two presidential candidates to the Ministry of Education. With the Education Minister’s recommendation after the ministry evaluates the qualifications of the candidates, the President of Korea will finally appoint one of these two candidates as the 21st President of CNU. The current president’s term ends on January 12, 2021.
