Lowering Legal Voting Age to 18
Umarkulov Asadbek (Sophomore, Faculty of Business Administration)
In Uzbekistan, the legal voting age used to be 25. Although it has now been lowered to 18, I believe there were reasons for the high age limit. Political elections require proper consideration as the outcomes might affect the future. At 18 years old, the potential voters might not have enough experience in life to make such decisions. Of course, people can lack this experience at any age, but it is more common for youngsters not to be well informed about political issues. They might rely on the opinions of parents or teachers when voting instead of forming their own.
