Chonnam National University (CNU) decided on March 19 to adjust its academic schedules and operational policies in response to the pandemic of COVID-19. As the Ministry of Education recommended domestic colleges and universities should avoid the gathering of students on campus, the university suspended the course opening for two weeks and delayed the overall course schedule for a week. All the classes had been delivered online using the E-class page until April 24. The midterm exam period planned for April has also postponed to the second week of May. Shin Da-hee (Sophomore, Dept. of Maritime Police Science) said, “Because of this unexpected situation due to the coronavirus outbreak, my plan for this semester went away. I am taking the online classes at home these days. Many of my classes are not providing online lectures but professors only give homework. It is difficult to do the homework without any preceding learning about the class. I hope there can be more lectures available for students.” The university will collect feedback from student councils about the online classes and upgrade the system by addressing inconveniences. With the changing COVID-19 situation, CNU will continue monitoring the developments of the virus domestically and notify people about the changes for the remainder of the semester.
