Chonnam National University opened the Writing & Speaking Clinic (WSC) to offer face-to-face speaking consultations for students with the existing writing consultations from 2018 fall semester, and held two special lectures on November 28 and 30. On December 7, the WSC provided a trial speaking coaching session and 10 students had face-to-face consultations on their one minute self-introduction videos with a professional lecturer. The start of formal speaking consultation is scheduled for next year. The center will offer online and face-to-face writing consultations until December 21 except for holidays and examination period. Jeong Da-woon, a staff researcher at the Institute of Liberal Education, said “As of December 7, about 1200 students had consulted with trained staff members about their writings, and 10 students had speaking consultations at the clinic. I hope more students use our writing and speaking consultations.” The Institute of Liberal Education renovated the Open Writing Counseling to the WSC in order to develop students with communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity skills for the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution in the early of this semester.
