The entrance ceremony for 6,045 newly enrolled undergraduate and graduate students took place at Minjumaru on Gwangju campus on March 2. 132 students won presidential awards for top academic success. President Jeong Byung-seok welcomed freshmen and hoped that the students will predict change and thoroughly prepare for this quickly changing society in their four years at CNU. He added, “Look far ahead, take a long breath, and make one step forward at a time. You will eventually become like a zelkova tree which grows firmly in the barren soil and provides huge shade for people in the hot summer.” He encouraged the students to play a leading role in the fourth industrial revolution era. “As the age of the fourth industrial revolution is the one of convergence, students should face the new age confidently with liberal thinking beyond boundaries, humanistic imagination and scientific creativity.”
