전남대, 개교 65주년 기념식 개최
On June 8, Chonnam National University (CNU) hosted a ceremony marking its 65th anniversary. More than 500 people attend the ceremony, including CNU President Jeong Byung-seok, CNU Alumni Association President Jung In-chae, alumni, faculty and staff members, students and local residents. The university recognized alumni and faculties who have made extraordinary contributions to making CNU a world class institution.
After a short presentation of CNU’s vision and current conditions at the ceremony, President Jeong Byung-seok gave awards to the winners of this year, in four categories of the Honorary Yongbongian Grand Award , the Proud Alumni Awards, the Yongbong Academic Awards, and the Oustanding Researcher Awards. In this event, 347 faculty and staff members were received individual commendations for their excellence or long-service to the university. In his speech, President Jeong wished, “The students of CNU will hold the value of institution’s slogan ‘Pride & Hope’ and will have the smile of victory on their face on every sector of their life.”
The ceremony started at 9:30 a.m. at Minjumaru building. The whole ceremony got more enthusiastic with the presence of alumni, current students and professors of different departments. CNU has also hosted a variety of events such as a commemorative concert and an athletic competition for faculty and staff members from June 7 to 9. June 9 marks the 65th anniversary of the university.
