The CNU Library has announced that Han Kang’s The Elergy of Whiteness was selected as the Book of the Year for the 2017Gwangju and Jeonnam Read and Talk (GJRT). Between April 3 and April 30, a total of 24,847 citizens participated in the voting to choose the book of the year using online and offline platforms at places including CNU campuses and local libraries. Han Kang, the writer of the book for the 2017 GJRT, will give a special lecture about her book on June 1, according to the the CNU Library.
