▲ Freshmen to take an English lecture taught by a native teacher in the 2017 English Camp last February

Chonnam National Univiersity operated the 2017 English Camp for freshmen last January and February. A total of 352 students took part in the first and second English Camp. This English program with the goal of improving the English skills of freshmen started in 2009 for the first time at national universities in Korea. With the passing of time more and more students have been satisfied with the quality and purpose of the English Camp. The courses in the camp are divided into two parts which are communication English and practical English. Freshmen in the communicative English course took English conversation lectures taught by native speakers, and in the practical English course they studied with a focus on the TOEIC exam. After the camp, CNU provides the participating students with advice about studying English based on their English test results and a one-to-one interview.
