The inauguration ceremony for the 20th President of Chonnam National University (CNU) was held at Minjumaru on February 1. Eminent people including former CNU presidents, the National Assembly members, and the mayor of Gwangju participated in the ceremony to celebrate the president’s inauguration. In his inaugural address, President Chung Byung-seok said, “I have studied law for life. I think law is learning for justice, and justice is to allot a fair share to each individual. I will make CNU fair and every CNU member will be given the right to share.“ He compared CNU students to the zelkova tree, CNU’s representative tree, in the way that the tree takes root deeply in infertile land and endures harsh circumstances and provides shade with many people. Everyone at CNU has to seek after the truth and pursue technological progress to make a happy world together.” President Chung started his four-year presidential term on January 12.
