The Yongbong Forum took place on November 22 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Yongbong Hall, Chonnam National University (CNU). A lawmaker from Democratic Party, Park Young-sun, was invited as a speaker at this forum. Park Young-sun, who worked as MBC journalist, has been re-elected from 17th General Election to the 20th. She was also designated to be the first woman floor leader of the main opposition Democratic Party since the beginning of the constitutional government of Korea. She gave a lecture about ‘the future of Honam region and Korea’, and showed her deep and professional insight on national politics, suggesting the right way towards a better future. Park emphasized that Honam region is crucial to rectify the system of Korea stating that “Korea overcame the crisis of IMF, after the former President Kim Dae-jung, representing Honam region, was elected.” She added that is why Honam region takes important role in changing Korean society. CNU holds Yongbong Forum, inviting eminent figures from diverse fields, to give the opportunities to discuss various topics for the members of CNU and locals.
