The 20th Presidential Candidates of Chonnam National University (CNU) will be indirectly elected. The CNU Faculty Council announced that its next presidential election system was determined as an indirect election system on August 31. The council held a vote to decide how to select the next president of the university from August 29 to 31 using the National Election Commission’s online voting system. 1,734 of 2,028 eligible voters casted ballots and the voter turnout rate was 85.51 percent. The vote rate for an indirect election system was 50.47 percent and for the direct election system it was 49.53 percent. The 20th President Recommendation Commission will be organized by the middle of October and select two presidential candidates based on the indirect vote of CNU members around early November this year. The current president’s term will officially end on December 20, 2016.
