Kim Hoon’s While Making Ramen Noodles was selected as the Book of the Year for 2016 Gwangju and Jeonnam Read and Talks (GJRT) organized by the Chonnam National University Library. On June 8, CNU announced it at the ceremony to mark the 64^th anniversary held at Minjumaru.  It was determined by a total of 30,528 citizens’ voting for choosing the book of the year from April 18 to May 17 on online and offline platforms. Kim Hoon’s book took the first place with 27.3 percent of the votes. Other 2016 Book of the Year Nominees are as follows; Gong Byeong-ho’s There Will Be No Korea Three Years Later, Kim Dae-sik’s Kim Dae-sik’s Big Question, Yang Chang-sam’s Happiness from Serving Chosun, and Chae Sa-jang’s Broad and Shallow Knowledge for Intellectual Conversation. The GJRT is a community reading project started in 2013 as the form of One City One Book.
