Recently, South Korea and Japan came to an agreement about the ‘comfort women’ problem that has distressed us for a long time. However, the manner of negotiating seemed to be problematic. There is no respect for the comfort women who should have been in the center of the compromise. First of all, this deal led by the governments was progressed without the consent of the comfort women. Second, Japan’s official attitude had not shown true remorse in their apology. Besides, they just compensated through a private foundation rather than the Japanese government. That is, to avoid responsibility. Decades have passed but the comfort women are still suffering. We not only fight for compensation but Japan’s sincere apology. We must not give up receiving a rational apology. At the same time, Japan should not think that this is the last of the clash. Therefore, this negotiation needs to be invalidated and we have to renegotiate.
