The Chonnam Tribune asked a student for his opinion about university evaluation conducted by the press. Let’s think about the issue whild reading his opinion.

"I oppose college and university ranking system of the press. The result may make people have biased ideas about the universities that were "evaluated" by a certain media company. Each university has its own goals, values and ways to achieve them, but the press evaluate the universities only by their standards. So, I think media companies’ college ranking surveys are not proper but superficial evaluations. . When asked my friends ”Which university is better?” during high school days, one of them said that “I think this university is not good because it has been ranked low in the annual JoongAng Ilbo Korean University Rankings..” In this way, the reputation of universities may be damaged because of perceptions based on university rankings that were improperly evaluated. Most of all, these kinds of evaluation systems might cause severe competition among universities and make them struggle to raise their ranking."
