사이버 검열에 대한 의견

The Chonnam Tribune asked a student for his opinion about the government cyber censorship. Let’s think about the issue whild reading his opinion.

▲ Hwang Jin-ju, Freshman, Department of Nursing

"My friends, and I, as well as many other people are using the application, ‘Kakao Talk’ as a mobile messenger. This application has many users and it is one of the most used apps among smart phone users in Korea. But recently many people are changing into other messenger applications like Germany’s Telegram because they fear their private messages are being censored by the government. Censoring private conversation means that third parties can see our message contents and record them whenever they want to. I think it should not happen because it can violate the privacy of people. It makes us worry that our personal information might be leaked and no one would feel secure. If the government continues to try to censor online communication via particular mobile messenger apps, obviously, people will not use the applications. I think the authorities of the government are required to walk in someone else’s shoes and consider the implications."
