자율형 사립고 폐지

The Chonnam Tribune asked CNU students for their opinions related to some current social issues: the abolishment of autonomous private high schools, the death of an Army private Yoon, the first anniversary of the worker-led labor union of Samsung Electronics Service, and the complete opening of rice market next year.

Kim So-hee (Freshman, Dept. of English Language Education)
I insist that the autonomous private high school system should be abolished. First, it leads to inequality in education and hinders the development of public education, which is expected to reduce inequality between the rich and the poor. Second, it can degenerate into private institutes that focus only on college entrance exams. Therefore, students can get education concentrating only on Korean language, mathematics, and English except for humanistic education or career education. Finally, autonomous private high schools require high education fees. Most students have difficulty paying expensive education fees, so the rich students who can afford to pay the education fees are able to enter the schools. In short, autonomous private high school must not be allowed for those reasons I mentioned above.
