The Chonnam Tribune interviewed four students about their special plans for this summer vacation and introduces their plans including specific purposes (study, travel, or work) and expectations of their own. They will be beneficial information to students who have not made their own plans yet. ─ Ed.

▲ Studying in the library

Choi Eun-jae (Junior, Dept. of Political Science and International Relations)
I decided to take up most of my time for studying foreign language during this summer vacation. I will study for the TOEFL and Chinese Characters Qualification Test, but it is too difficult to study alone. So, I will take the internet-based lectures or participate in a study group. I wish I could go to an academy in Seoul and study the TOEFL more intensively. Also, I should prepare for the 20th National Model UN Conference-Korea in July. It is related to my major. Finally, I want to give some tips especially for lower grade students. Establish specific goals for a summer or winter vacation such as participating in extracurricular activities or reading many books. I believe you can broaden your perspective and learn some lessons from various experiences.

▲ Working part time

Kim Jeong-hwan (Junior, Dept. of Anthropology)
I will go backpacking across Europe this summer vacation. So, I have worked part time to save up money since last summer. I wanted to see the life style of Europeans and decided to go to Europe. I am planning to visit six countries: the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italia, Czech and Turkey. Among them, the most expected country is Turkey, especially Istanbul, the largest city in the country because the Eastern and Western cultures coexist in the country. It will be a good opportunity for me as a university student. Through many experiences during the trip, I can see more of the world. It will become a turning point for me.

Kim Young-gyu (Sophomore, School of Business Administration)
I have many experiences of working part time such as in a coffee shop, a convenience store or a bakery. I recommend students who want to get a part time job to establish specific goals of your working at first such as obtain job experiences or to make money. This summer vacation, I will work at a fitness center where I have been its member and trained diligently every day. The master of the center had an eye on me and suggested the part time job. I have a plan to go to the beach in August, so this job is perfect for me to make my dream body shape and earn money.

▲ Going on an overseas trip

An Seon-jin (Freshman, School of Business Administration)
I am planning to go to Singapore, which will be my first trip without my parents. I think Singapore is good to be looking around because the scale of the country is not big. So, I will visit the Sentosa Island and Chinatown and Bugis Street. I am looking forward to having a good memory there and it will be a good motivation for my next semester.
