    A welcoming ceremony for the opening of the Gwangju Office of Goethe Institut has held on January 15th from 11:45 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the back of the Main Library on CNU Yongbong campus. For this ceremony, Song Gyeong-an (Dean of the Dept. of the German Lang. & Lit.) acted as a chairperson, Eberhard Weller (Head of Language Department in the East Asian region of Goethe Institut), Angela Jeannette (Language and Cooperation Officer of Gwangju Language Center in Goethe Institut Korea), Cho Sung-gi (Language and Cooperation Officer in Goethe Institut Korea) and others participated in.

   “Seoul was designated as the headquarters of the East Asian region of Goethe Institut in May, 2011 and other Goethe Instituts have been built in Daejeon and Daeju. And finally, the 4th Goethe Institut has been built in Gwangju,” said Officer Cho. The Goethe Institut in Gwangju will be opened in March, 2014. Officer Jeannette said, “I would like to thank everyone who prepared for the new opening of the center.” The institute will offer classes for all levels of German exams from A1 to C2. There will be also an opening event on March 14th or 20th with German bands. Hope many CNU students who are interested in German language and culture to participate in the event.
