5 Days for the Homeless student participants in Canada

My university, Alberta School of Business, actively gets involved in social contribution activities and community engagement, and some of the groups I will introduce today are Enactus and 5 Days for the Homeless.
Enactus is an international non-profit organization that brings together students, academic and business leaders who are committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to improve the quality of life and the standard of living for people in need. The program I will introduce is called “Healing Camp,” which has the mission of helping the homeless, at risk youth, and low income families. It starts off from an idea to provide temporary housing to those in need. It then morphed into a project that dedicated itself towards program development specialized in assisting impoverished people to get jobs, learning to write resumes, cover letters and teaching them things such as financial literacy.
5 Days for the Homeless was founded as a local initiative by the Alberta School of Business students. This initiative, after running very successfully for a number of years on the Edmonton campus at the University of Alberta, was taken national in 2008. To date, the campaign has raised over $985,000 for charitable organizations across the country and has spread its message from coast to coast. It aims to increase awareness of homelessness and raise donations for local charitable organizations supporting homeless and at-risk youth across the country.
