The University-Industry Liaison Office of CNU was established on February 5th, 2004 to promote industrial development through the research of technology growth and transfer. It aims mainly to implement university-industry cooperation, to provide services for intellectual property protection and technology transfer, and to promote industrial education by running diverse laboratories and university enterprises. Among those works, many students would be interested in the industrial education and vocational training programs. Here is a representative program. It is STP-CNU (Samsung Talent Program-Chonnam National University). Totally, five departments – electronics and computer engineering, applied chemistry, new materials engineering, mechanical engineering and electronic engineering – are running this customized talent program, which is contracted until 2015. For Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, it is able to acquire diligent employees whom it needs, and for our university they are able to gain support and research funds and can guarantee student employment. Kim Eun-jeong, in charge of the STP-CNU program said, “In effect, 27 out of 100 new employees had joined the company for the lasts 6 months earned the STP-CNU scholarships.” She explained that students who are interested in this program can apply in their 6th semester, and then they are determined as the collaboration scholarship students after going through two interviews with the company. There are several similar programs collaborated with different corporations, but it is one of the best examples to satisfy the university, corporations and students.
