Students queueing to get on the bus

Recently, complaints have arisen regarding the shuttle bus service bridging between Gwangju and Yeosu campuses of Chonnam National University. This is because of the small number of shuttle services which run only two times a day—7:10 a.m. and 4:20 p.m. Even worse, there is a limit on how many people—around 13 faculty members and 10 students—can board on the bus. Extra seats can be occupied by order of arrival, and often there are too many people and not enough seats which the numbers are not enough to take all. “Even if I arrive 2 hours early, I am not guaranteed a seat. This system must change.” said Seo Gyung-yean (Junior, School of Electrical, Electronics and Computer Science). Regarding this, university authorities answered that the purpose of the bus service is for cross-students whose class rooms are located at another campus and for officials in order to improve work efficiency, not for commuting, and if the students are uncomfortable, they will consider an increase in bus services. But it is very uncertain. Meanwhile, there are universities that have increased the bus service with the request of their students. Yonsei University increased its bus service and Busan National University also increased the number of buses with the request of the students that were being operated between its campuses. The General Student Council and University Administration at CNU have to look for efficient ways to solve this problem and reduce student inconvenience.
