Chonnam National University (CNU) has recruited CNUains for its Global Summer Volunteering and Explorer Program operated by the Office of Student Affairs under three categories: global volunteering, foreign culture experience and major-related activity. This program aims to cultivate students' global mindset and enhance their cultural competence through diverse activities in foreign countries. Local students and regular international students can  apply for the program. Applicants should orgazice a gropu of more than 4 students and make a plan for their overseas activities. CNU will select 46 teams and among them 36 teams are dispatched to Asian countries, while 10 teams to Europe, Oceania, USA and Africa. The first round of evaluation would include document screening where half will only go through. The second round of evaluation will be an interview where teams are selected. Selected students go to expected countries for not less than 5 days during summer vacation. Until 2011, CNU, through the Office of International Affairs, had administered the Overseas Educational Program every vacation with providing financial support, and it was highly competitive among students. To satisfy students' demands for such a program, CNU restored it as this new program.
