Employment Lecture on Diplomacy at the College of Humanities

The special lecture on employment graced by a former ambassador was held on May 5th at the College of Humanities, Chonnam National University (CNU). The lecture was held by Byun Dae-ho, an honorary professor of CNU, and a former diplomat representing the Republic of Korea and the former Korean ambassador to Croatia. The topic in lecture is about globalization and overseas expansion of the youth. He explained the life and process to become a diplomat and how to be employed in an international organization. Also, he introduced a lot of people working in NGOs. He recommends an internship program in government especially for those who would like to enter the diplomatic corps. Adding to it, he stressed in the importance of studying English as the value of having the knowledge of a second foreign language becomes more important nowadays. He advised students to get confidence. Kim Ha-Kyung (Sophomore, Dept. of English Literature) who attended this lecture said, “It was really good opportunity to listen to experience regarding life of diplomat directly especially for students who are aiming for the diplomatic field.
