1^st Social Welfare Colloquium of CNU held

          The 1^st Social Welfare Colloquium entitled ‘Discussion on Welfare Status’ was held by Interdisciplinary Program of Social Welfare, Graduate School of Chonnam National University (CNU) and the CNU Graduate Student Association (GSA) on May 7^th, 2013 at College of Human Ecology Room 403.

           This colloquium is the first professional academic lecture for optimizing the academic performance and communicating with the general public. Kang Yong-bok (Director, Gwill Mental Health Institution) presented about her experience on social welfare and the recent trends in the USA and Europe on the field. On the other hand, Park Sue-bong (Manager, Child Fund Korea) presented about the Korean model of El Sistema of the Green Umbrella Dream Orchestra based in Mokpo that integrated indigent child into music so that they can dream and increase in emotional development and sociality. The participants of the colloquium had a time to discuss the topics after. The attendants consisted of a variety of people involved in social work from Buk-gu Ward Councilors in Gwangju and Jeonnam areas as well as local community leaders.

           Moon, Chang-in (GSA President) said, “We have this colloquium as a start pointing aiming to become an HQ in Honam and the whole nation for social welfare. Please have continued interest in us.
