“We Will Fight to Do What Is Right”
SBST Students and Faculty join Hands in Regaining Their Position

The Emergency Measure Committee (EMC) of School of Biological Sciences and Technology (SBST) at Chonnam National University held a candlelight vigil on April 8th, 2013 in front of the University Administration (UA) building. The dispute between the UA and SBST professors has continued for 3 years until now since SBST was demoted from being under the direct presidential jurisdiction of the UA to become part of the College of Natural Sciences. Soh Jae-mok, Yoon Cheol-ho and Chae Ho-zun (Professors, School of Biological Sciences and Technology) have filed a legal action against the UA and Soh Jae-mog is going on a hunger strike for 7 days, up to date. Yoon Cheol-ho said that “The university officials are also professors and educators who teach justice. But they demoted SBST and showed injustice to students. So we, the professors, will fight to achieve what we think is right.” Additionally, Chae Ho-zun said, “This problem should be soon solved because it is a simplistic problem. We hope that the administration agrees to reopen talks about this problem.” The candlelight vigil was attended by both faculty and students of the said department.
