at 2nd Yongbong Forum

The Yongbong Forum, a series of lectures for the 60th anniversary of Chonnam National University (CNU) was held again for the second time. The 5.18 Institute of Chonnam National University (CNU) held the 2nd Yongbong Forum at the CNU convention hall on November 15, 2012. The speaker, Dr. Sergio Trindade has researched extensively about climate change based on sustainable development at the same time doing a specialty on bio-energy. Trindade is a co-laureate of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, an award given that year to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and Al Gore, a former vice-president of the United States of America. Trindade was part of the IPCC. The theme of the special lecture is “Climate Change and Sustainability”. On this subject, he debated about the relationship between nature, climate change, and economic development through development of alternative energy and bio-energy industry. Lee Sang-woo (Junior, Department of Business Administration) said, “It was impressive that he explained about what we can’t realize about climate change at once.” This time, few people came here because this lecture was given in English, also this time there was not much promotion compared with the previous Yongbong forum. So the next forum, which will take place on December 3, 2012, more promotion, is needed. If the lecture is given in foreign language, simultaneous interpretation is needed.
