It’s Time for a Change

I am interested in every topic featured in the Chonnam Tribune. In the May issue, an article about the course registration problem stated the problems and some solutions at other universities, and encouraged students to participate in improving their educational circumstances by asking questions about such problems. The “Cover Story about the date course of 5.18 Road was impressive because of the idea of associating the spirit of 5.18 and the dating course. I think the Chonnam Tribune is not a one-way news medium like other newspapers. However, it does lack diversity. I want to suggest that it covers various articles with political and social contents to cultural and educational ones. If so, it will become much more popular than now. The Chonnam Tribune, as an English campus newspaper, has as good quality as any other Korean newspaper. I hope that the Chonnam Tribune will become one of the most influential media on campus such as the TIME or The Washington Post in the international society.

My Two Cents Worth
By Julian Mickey, Senior, Dept. of Material Systems Engineering, University of Malaya Exchange Student
The Chonnam Tribune has been with the university for years now. But why are there still a number of students who still do not know about the university’s newspaper. This is maybe because of the language barrier where it is mainly in English, and local students tend to neglect the existence of the newspaper. What can Tribune members to promote their newspaper, I think, is by having an open booth or a festival in the university organized by them in order to have interaction between the students at CNU. As I have noticed since I arrived at CNU a few months ago, CNU students have a very strong bond with each other. Thus, communication and publicity plays a vital role in promoting the Chonnam Tribune. I hope my two cents worth can help in promoting the Chonnam Tribune.
