What Do You Want the New President to Do for CNUians?

“Increase university promotion and entrepreneurs’ lectures”
Kim Sylvia (Sophomore, School of Business Administration)
I hope the newly-elected president promotes our university to successful enterprises for the benefit of all the students of CNU and provide opportunities to take special lectures of various eminent entrepreneurs at CNU. This is not just because I am a student of School of Business Administration, but because I think that many students from other departments may wish to start their own business in the future. In order to succeed in their businesses, they must have practical knowledge and experience in the business field, but at CNU we have few opportunities to meet successful businessmen and learn from their experience. The new president-elect should communicate actively with national enterprises and increase the number of lectures from outside specialists.

“Revise the curriculum and improve employment support programs”
Lee Won-jai (Sophomore, Dept. of Ethics Education)
The new president-elect should examine our school curriculum and reform it. I think many students are concerned about finding a position these days, but employment or job training programs at CNU are insufficient. Many people think that as a student of Dept. of Education, I would take the Teacher Recruitment Examination, but they are mistaken. The ratio of successful applicants for the examination is relatively lower compared to other national universities. That is the reason why students majoring in education say it would be easier to prepare for the civil service examination rather than passing the Teacher Recruitment Examination. I think the curriculum of Education Department is required to be revised, and more systematic supports from the university must be established. As a student of Dept. of Education, I have nowhere to stand on.

“Foreign students need to be given more attention”

Liu Jun (Sophomore, School of Business Administration, exchange student from China)

Though CNU has many students from different countries, there are not enough appropriate programs for them. Foreign students don’t have enough opportunities to make friends with Koreans. Some programs like ‘Giljabi’, through which Korean students give information about school life, are going on, but we don’t get intimate with each other. It is just superficial. Although I have lived in Korean for several years, I have few Korean friends. It was hard for me to adjust to university life in a foreign country. As the language is totally different, foreign students like me have difficulties in communicating with local students. I hope support programs for international students will be better so we can become friends with Korean students.
