Are International Programs Safe?

CNU’s programs are still safe.”
Jeon Ji-eun (Junior, School of Business Administration)
I think the international programs of CNU are still safe. I think the Office of International Affairs is doing its best to ensure the maximum safety for each student who participates in the program. Even if we are in Korea, one is responsible for his/her safety except in special circumstances. CNU’s programs can’t be responsible for every inevitable situation. I still think international programs of CNU are safe and want to participate in them. Other international exchange programs hosted outside the school can’t guarantee 100% safety. Not just CNU but also individuals should pay more attention to the safety issue.

“I would not have perfect trust about its safety.”
Kim Seon-kyung (Junior, Department of English Language and Literature)
I don’t think international programs are safe. Especially when we are in foreign countries, we are exposed to many dangers and should be more cautious. The Office of International Affairs at our university should have reinforced the system which can ensure the better safety. Before I learned about the accident, I have never doubted the safety of our school’s international programs. However, I am no longer perfectly sure whether they are safe or not. I have come to raise doubts about the safety of CNU’s international programs. If I have a chance to participate in one of the programs, I would still want to do it but I would not have perfect trust about its safety.

“OIA provides very good care for us.
Wong Kin Yap (Senior, Dept. of Public Administration, Exchange Student from Malaysia)
The International Affairs Office of CNU provides very good care for us. The office considers everything. I think CNU’s programs are safe enough. As a foreign student, if I compare Korea to my country, Korea is a much safer place because everything is dangerous in Malaysia. Just take the example of my university and CNU: the crime rate is higher at my university and I think the reason is because my university is located in the capital of Malaysia. We always worry about the night classes, avoid taking them or ask the lecturer to change the time table. We are not allowed to take a taxi and walk alone especially if you are a female. It is too dangerous. I think this is much related to the safety level of the state. Compare to Korea, Malaysia and Africa are more dangerous (roads, criminals, people, surrounding, and so on). I think the possibility of something unfortunate happening is low in Korea.
